Nobody had Eric O'Neill this high, and it is not close. The Chiefs reached 47 spots to get him at pick 210.
Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. That Sadiq pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a double-digit-sack hope. A real need, handled.
In the 29th overall pick they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zion Young. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They did well to land Jonah Coleman in pick 74, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Keyron Crawford in No. 109 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
CJ Daniels at the Round 5 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A quiet steal in No. 169: Tanner Koziol for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value with a capital V on Bryce Boettcher in the 176th overall pick, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Eric O'Neill well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
