There is a lot to like until you notice offensive lineman is still a hole. The Falcons never got to the one that mattered most.

If Barrett pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.16 · Pick 48 · Keith Abney II · CB · rank 45
Keith Abney II in the 48th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R3.15 · Pick 79 · Brenen Thompson · WR · rank 90
They paid a round early for Brenen Thompson in Round 3, Pick 15, more than the board wanted. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.14 · Pick 114 · Harold Perkins Jr. · LB · rank 129
A reach for Harold Perkins Jr. in No. 114; a little patience would have been rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.16 · Pick 197 · Bobby Jamison-Travis · DT · rank 205
A conviction pick on Bobby Jamison-Travis at slot 197 that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.15 · Pick 231 · Nick Barrett · DL · rank 251
Nick Barrett at pick 231 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
