The Jets treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 2 slot on Garrett Nussmeier a full 35 spots early. No fireworks, but a solid B.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Getting Styles where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get a bendy edge with upside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In pick 16 they get a true top target at fair value. A real need, handled.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 33, where Sonny Styles graded well above the range. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A real head-scratcher, Garrett Nussmeier in the 44th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value with a capital V on Treydan Stukes in No. 103, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nadame Tucker at the 140th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy little value on Marlin Klein in the Round 5 slot, a step better than break-even. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jalen Huskey at No. 228 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Robert Henry Jr. in Round 7, Pick 26 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
