Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Texans never addressed edge rusher, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jones. Job largely done: running back settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.28 · Pick 28 · Olaivavega Ioane · OG · rank 22
In the 28th pick they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
R2.6 · Pick 38 · Christen Miller · DL · rank 37
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christen Miller. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R2.27 · Pick 59 · Blake Miller · OT · rank 57
They paid sticker price for Blake Miller in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Jadarian Price · RB · rank 70
Jadarian Price in pick 69 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.6 · Pick 106 · Logan Jones · C · rank 88
They robbed the room for Logan Jones here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
R5.27 · Pick 167 · Kevin Coleman Jr. · WR · rank 158
They read the board right and Kevin Coleman Jr. was the payoff at the 167th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.27 · Pick 243 · Andre Fuller · CB · rank 225
Andre Fuller in No. 243 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
