The trade table was where it all came apart. The Jets shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Boston has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 2 they get a centerpiece for the ground game at fair value.
In the Round 1 slot they get a home-run threat at receiver, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
They took Akheem Mesidor at par in the 33rd pick, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Max Iheanachor at the 44th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
No edge and no loss on Josiah Trotter in pick No. 56; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
