A respectable, level-headed haul for the Dolphins: B-.

Nobody else had Nadame Tucker anywhere near Round 4, Pick 11. The Dolphins did, by 57 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

The Scott pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.28 · Pick 28 · Kenyon Sadiq · TE · rank 19
In slot 28 they get a mismatch in the passing game, outstanding value to boot.
R1.30 · Pick 30 · Sonny Styles · LB · rank 21
They let Sonny Styles come to them and pounced at pick 30. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · Omar Cooper Jr. · WR · rank 55
Omar Cooper Jr. at the 43rd pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.27 · Pick 91 · Michael Trigg · TE · rank 107
Michael Trigg in pick No. 91 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
R3.30 · Pick 94 · Keionte Scott · CB · rank 62
Circle this one: Keionte Scott at the 94th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R4.9 · Pick 109 · Justin Joly · TE · rank 115
No drama and no debate, Justin Joly went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. It fills a real need, too.
R4.11 · Pick 111 · Nadame Tucker · DE-EDGE · rank 168
Nadame Tucker at slot 111 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Jaeden Roberts · OG · rank 146
Jaeden Roberts at Round 4, Pick 12 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.30 · Pick 130 · Louis Moore · S · rank 158
They reached into another round for Louis Moore, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.7 · Pick 147 · Taylen Green · QB · rank 181
They reached a country mile for Taylen Green at the 147th overall pick, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.11 · Pick 151 · Sawyer Robertson · QB · rank 198
Value said wait; Sawyer Robertson in the 151st pick says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.40 · Pick 180 · J'Mari Taylor · RB · rank 183
No edge and no loss on J'Mari Taylor in pick 180; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.28 · Pick 209 · Zxavian Harris · DT · rank 214
Zxavian Harris at No. 209 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.30 · Pick 211 · Nick Barrett · DL · rank 259
Nick Barrett in pick No. 211 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.11 · Pick 227 · Jalen Huskey · S · rank 220
Nothing to complain about; Jalen Huskey went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
