Nobody else had Taylen Green anywhere near the 94th pick. The Dolphins did, by 91 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
However the rest shakes out, Stowers at that price is a win they earned. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Quantity was the play, for better or worse. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th overall pick they get a blindside protector, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Omar Cooper Jr. at the 43rd pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Elijah Sarratt at Round 2, Pick 16 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A wild overpay on Caden Curry in No. 77, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jake Slaughter at pick No. 79 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They talked themselves into Michael Trigg at slot 87, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Eli Stowers at slot 92 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
They reached into another round for Taylen Green, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Nadame Tucker well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Louis Moore in pick No. 151 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Cole Payton in No. 155 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
This one needs a full-page explanation: J'Mari Taylor in pick 165, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
Josh Cameron slipping to the Round 6 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nick Barrett at the 218th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Deven Eastern this early at pick 227. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jack Kelly at the 238th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
