When the story of this class is written, it opens with Cole Payton at pick No. 94, a reach of 104 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.
On value alone, Cameron makes the weekend a net positive. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
Pick-by-Pick
Olaivavega Ioane in the Round 1 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
In pick No. 30 they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Derrick Moore at the 47th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Elijah Sarratt at the 84th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Caden Curry at pick 87 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They reached into another round for Michael Trigg, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reach for Jalon Kilgore in the 92nd pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A real head-scratcher, Cole Payton in Round 3, Pick 30 is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nadame Tucker in No. 151 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy little value on Charles Demmings in slot 152, a step better than break-even. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Josh Cameron in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid up for Nick Barrett at the 238th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
