The Dolphins bet big and early on Taylen Green, 79 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Harris.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 26 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
In No. 30 they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Elijah Sarratt well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reach on Skyler Bell in the 77th overall pick; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jalon Kilgore. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They paid up for Michael Trigg at pick 108 when waiting would have done the job. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value said wait; Taylen Green in No. 112 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nadame Tucker at slot 126 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Cole Payton at the Round 4 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Charles Demmings in pick No. 147 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
They left a pile of value on the table to take J'Mari Taylor this early at the 151st pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No edge and no loss on Jaeden Roberts in pick 152; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
They liked Louis Moore enough to skip the value, taking him in the 155th overall pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They reached into another round for Ephesians Prysock, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
They let Zxavian Harris come to them and pounced at pick 170. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Kalil Alexander at the 215th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A real head-scratcher, Deven Eastern in pick No. 227 is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jack Kelly at No. 238 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
