It is the swing that defines the weekend: Raymond Cottrell in Round 1, Pick 24, a good 314 spots before the room expected him.
Louis falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
So much rides on Gennings Dunker that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 6 they get a cornerstone up front, a steep price for the projection.
In No. 24 they get a No. 1 receiver, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Tacario Davis at Round 2, Pick 7 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Somehow Makai Lemon was still sitting there in the 70th pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Ar'maj Reed-Adams at pick 107 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A real head-scratcher, Preston Stone in the 146th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Kyle Louis at the 149th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Jalon Daniels at pick 206 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Terion Stewart at the Round 7 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
