The Cardinals clearly saw something nobody else did in Denver Harris, taking him 156 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
Farmer at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The whole projection now runs through Carson Beck; hit there and everything else looks smarter.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
In the end, a class that has to defy its grades just to matter.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 10th pick they get a long-term answer under center, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Caleb Tiernan at the 34th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Josiah Trotter at No. 65. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached a country mile for Robert Spears-Jennings at pick No. 104, and the board is aghast. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Somehow Ted Hurst was still sitting there in Round 5, Pick 3, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Denver Harris at slot 183, and the board did not agree. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Steal is underselling it; Jalen Farmer at Round 7, Pick 1 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
