Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jaiden Ausberry at pick No. 71 is 333 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. For now it grades a C, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
Roush at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
If Blake Miller and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 7 they get a cornerstone up front, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jaiden Ausberry well ahead of where he belonged. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Daylen Everette in pick 147 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kage Casey in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jerand Bradley at Round 6, Pick 28 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Sam Roush at the 223rd overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
