Some hits, some head-scratchers, and a C for the Cowboys.

The tape said wait; the Cowboys did not. Michael Harris went at the 92nd pick, a good 259 picks before the board was ready. It nets out a thoroughly average C.

The Roberts pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · T.J. Parker · DE-EDGE · rank 23
In the 12th overall pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, even if it was a touch early. Need was not the driver here.
R1.20 · Pick 20 · Kevin Coleman Jr. · WR · rank 163
In pick No. 20 they get a matchup problem out wide, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
R3.28 · Pick 92 · Michael Harris · LB · rank 351
They talked themselves into Michael Harris at No. 92, and the board did not agree. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Demond Claiborne · RB · rank 162
Value said wait; Demond Claiborne in pick 112 says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.12 · Pick 152 · CJ Daniels · WR · rank 143
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and CJ Daniels at Round 5, Pick 12 is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.37 · Pick 177 · Jaeden Roberts · OG · rank 150
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jaeden Roberts in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.40 · Pick 180 · Matt Gulbin · C · rank 183
No edge and no loss on Matt Gulbin in the 180th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.2 · Pick 218 · Miles Kitselman · TE · rank 225
Miles Kitselman in No. 218 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
