The Rams went off the board in a big way for Ethan Onianwa, 401 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.
Getting Kilgore where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term starter on the line, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A premium they did not need to pay, Max Klare a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Emmanuel McNeil-Warren still on the board at pick No. 93. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached a country mile for Will Lee III at No. 102, and the board is aghast. It adds depth where they could use a little.
