The Ravens spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Germie Bernard, the No. 58 name on the board, in the Round 7 slot.
Reaching for Keenan III left real value on the table behind him. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 14th pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They talked themselves into Tim Keenan III at the Round 2 slot, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They went early on Bryce Lance in No. 80, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A wild overpay on DJ Campbell in pick 115, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jakobe Thomas slipping to slot 154 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A slide stopped in Round 5, Pick 22, with Mason Reiger worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
David Bailey in pick No. 173 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Le'Veon Moss at the 174th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A big swing on Alan Herron at slot 211, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let an edge rusher like Keyron Crawford reach pick 250 and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
Circle this one: Germie Bernard at the 253rd pick is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
