You can hear the double-takes from here. The Titans took Trey Holly at Round 2, Pick 3, roughly 283 spots before his name belonged.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Reese. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Mike Hughes gives the group a proven body among the projects.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get a bendy edge with upside, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A big swing on Trey Holly at No. 35, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Somehow Arvell Reese was still sitting there in the 66th overall pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Malachi Fields at the 101st pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Pat Coogan in pick 144, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Keagen Trost. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board fumbled Kaleb Proctor all the way to slot 194, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Dae'Quan Wright in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
