For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The 49ers walked out of the weekend still thin at wide receiver, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.
They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Peter Woods at No. 27 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jake Golday at pick 58 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for Will Lee III in the 127th pick, and that is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Jude Bowry in the Round 4 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tyreak Sapp at slot 138 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jakobe Thomas in Round 4, Pick 39 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
