The Joey Aguilar selection is the head-turner. The Packers reached 32 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
That Rolder pick is the receipt they will wave around later. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
This one needs a full-page explanation: Domonique Orange in Round 2, Pick 20, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They will replay Keionte Scott at the 84th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Mason Reiger in No. 120 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They read the board right and Charles Demmings was the payoff at pick 160. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid a round early for Kaelon Black in pick No. 201, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Taking Jimmy Rolder in the 236th pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Joey Aguilar at Round 7, Pick 39 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
