The war room fell hard for Deven Eastern, and it showed at the 236th pick: 43 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Landing Barber that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Gabe Jacas at the 52nd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Daylen Everette in Round 3, Pick 20. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They let Austin Barber come to them and pounced at pick 120. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Seth McGowan well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Aaron Graves at slot 201, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Deven Eastern in pick No. 236, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A tidy little value on Vinny Anthony II in slot 255, a step better than break-even. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
