When the story of this class is written, it opens with Trey Moore at pick No. 136, a reach of 51 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They banked enough surplus on Fields to cover a lot of smaller sins. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Chris Bell and all.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Chris Bell went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 10. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Emmanuel Pregnon at slot 52 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Dani Dennis-Sutton this early at the 59th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They took Treydan Stukes at par in pick 69, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Skyler Bell in the 84th overall pick, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Malachi Fields was still sitting there in the Round 4 slot, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nothing to complain about; Trey Zuhn III went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They reached a country mile for Trey Moore at slot 136, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
