The Saints put a flag in the ground for Trey Moore, 71 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
Bell at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 18 they get a home-run threat at receiver, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid sticker price for Chris Bell in No. 34, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A straight-up fair deal on D'Angelo Ponds at pick 49, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Caden Curry. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Trey Moore at the 112th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Skyler Bell at Round 4, Pick 32 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Oscar Delp in No. 150. The roster fit checks out.
They liked Cole Payton enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 190. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
