The Saints torched the value chart for Treydan Stukes, taking him 23 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Endries value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 8th pick they get a matchup problem out wide. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A big swing on Zachariah Branch at No. 42, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A real head-scratcher, Treydan Stukes in Round 3, Pick 9 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jack Endries at pick 132 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Kaleb Proctor at par in the 136th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Beau Stephens at slot 150 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Taylen Green at the 172nd overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The roster fit checks out.
No drama and no debate, Jeff Caldwell went about where he belonged in pick 190. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
