Nobody else had Max Bredeson anywhere near Round 6, Pick 29. The Lions did, by 145 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
On value alone, Stukes makes the weekend a net positive. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at the 49th pick, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Caleb Banks in No. 50 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Taking Treydan Stukes in the 116th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tacario Davis slipping to slot 118 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jude Bowry at Round 4, Pick 28 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nothing to complain about; Skyler Gill-Howard went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
By-the-book stuff, Aamil Wagner at slot 169 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Bryce Boettcher at the 181st pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Logan Fano at the Round 6 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Max Bredeson at pick No. 210 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nice patience on Aaron Graves, who had no business lasting to the 213th overall pick. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Fa'alili Fa'amoe in Round 7, Pick 6 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tyler Onyedim at pick 229 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
