The tape said wait; the Packers did not. Keaten Wade went at the 255th overall pick, a good 116 picks before the board was ready. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Landing Muhammad that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
Zachariah Branch in the 52nd pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had Mike Washington Jr. higher than the 91st overall pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid sticker price for Gracen Halton in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Nadame Tucker. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Malik Muhammad at Round 4, Pick 26 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Kage Casey in No. 160 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Isaiah Jatta in the 201st overall pick, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
No drama and no debate, Josh Cuevas went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They reached a country mile for Keaten Wade at slot 255, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
