The Will Kacmarek selection is the head-turner. The Browns reached 66 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
However the rest shakes out, Green at that price is a win they earned. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a cornerstone up front, a steep price for the projection.
In No. 18 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A premium they did not need to pay, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A quiet steal in the 70th overall pick: Germie Bernard for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Charles Demmings in Round 5, Pick 6 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value said wait; Red Murdock in slot 149 says they were not listening. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They will replay Taylen Green at the 206th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A wild overpay on Will Kacmarek in pick No. 248, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
