They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Taylen Green, 40 picks early at pick No. 146.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On value alone, Rodriguez makes the weekend a net positive.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 18 they get a home-run threat at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the 20th pick they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Blake Miller in pick No. 39 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Omar Cooper Jr. in pick 40 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Steal is underselling it; Jacob Rodriguez at slot 92 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Jalon Kilgore in the 107th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They let Genesis Smith come to them and pounced at No. 109. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid up for Jack Endries at pick No. 112 when waiting would have done the job. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A big swing on Taylen Green at the Round 5 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Zane Durant in slot 196 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Pat Coogan at the 206th overall pick is the proof. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Trey Zuhn III at Round 7, Pick 32 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
