There is conviction, and then there is this. The Packers took Nadame Tucker a full 54 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
However the rest shakes out, Corleone at that price is a win they earned. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
A quiet steal in pick No. 52: Anthony Hill Jr. for less than the market said. A minor itch, scratched.
They robbed the room for Dontay Corleone here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
Malik Muhammad is a better player than slot 112 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They talked themselves into Nadame Tucker at the 120th pick, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Beau Stephens at No. 160 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nice patience on Ephesians Prysock, who had no business lasting to pick 201. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing TJ Hall in pick No. 236. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Isaiah Jatta. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They let Josh Cuevas come to them and pounced at the 256th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
They read the board right and Desmond Reid was the payoff at No. 257. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
