Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. CJ Allen, the No. 31 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 62nd overall pick.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They are betting Eastern proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
Circle this one: CJ Allen at the 62nd overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Logan Jones in slot 84 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Bryce Lance in the 120th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Zxavian Harris in the Round 5 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They let Ephesians Prysock come to them and pounced at pick No. 201. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A slide stopped in pick 236, with TJ Hall worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Value with a capital V on Josh Cuevas in Round 7, Pick 39, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They reached into another round for Adam Randall, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Deven Eastern at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
