The Tyreak Sapp pick is the one that will follow the Packers into the fall. They took him 50 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
A reasonable price with a little left over, D'Angelo Ponds in the Round 2 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Tyreak Sapp in the 84th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Jude Bowry at Round 4, Pick 20, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
Nothing to complain about; Zxavian Harris went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value with a capital V on J'Mari Taylor in the 201st overall pick, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They read the board right and TJ Hall was the payoff at No. 236. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Josh Cuevas at the Round 7 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The roster fit checks out.
