Green Bay Packers

A costly weekend of dealing drags the Packers to a D.

by emc2feld · 2026 NFL Draft · 20 picks · 8 steals · 8 reaches
Value B-
Need B
Trades F
Future C

When the story of this class is written, it opens with Micah Morris at the Round 7 slot, a reach of 85 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The Ponds pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 8 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.20 · Pick 52 · LT Overton · DE-EDGE · rank 63
The board had cheaper options than LT Overton at pick No. 52, and it noticed. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.20 · Pick 84 · Lee Hunter · DT · rank 48
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Lee Hunter in the Round 3 slot, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.21 · Pick 85 · Christen Miller · DL · rank 56
Christen Miller in No. 85 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.26 · Pick 90 · D'Angelo Ponds · CB · rank 47
A cornerback of that caliber at the 90th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.30 · Pick 94 · Jonah Coleman · RB · rank 66
They barely believed it either: Jonah Coleman still on the board at slot 94. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.35 · Pick 99 · Bryce Lance · WR · rank 90
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Bryce Lance in pick 99. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.20 · Pick 120 · Logan Jones · C · rank 91
Logan Jones at pick 120 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.21 · Pick 121 · Sam Roush · TE · rank 92
You do not let a tight end like Sam Roush reach Round 4, Pick 21 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Nadame Tucker · DE-EDGE · rank 174
Nadame Tucker at the 135th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.20 · Pick 160 · Albert Regis · DL · rank 170
Albert Regis in slot 160 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.21 · Pick 161 · Kage Casey · OT · rank 160
A straight-up fair deal on Kage Casey at pick No. 161, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.24 · Pick 164 · Red Murdock · LB · rank 193
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Red Murdock well ahead of where he belonged. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.26 · Pick 166 · Taylen Green · QB · rank 188
They left a pile of value on the table to take Taylen Green this early at the 166th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.35 · Pick 216 · Jeff Caldwell · WR · rank 189
Steal is underselling it; Jeff Caldwell at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.8 · Pick 224 · TJ Hall · CB · rank 222
TJ Hall in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.11 · Pick 227 · John Michael Gyllenborg · TE · rank 228
John Michael Gyllenborg in slot 227 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
R7.14 · Pick 230 · Alan Herron · OT · rank 252
Alan Herron in pick No. 230 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
R7.20 · Pick 236 · Aiden Fisher · LB · rank 229
Aiden Fisher at Round 7, Pick 20 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
R7.21 · Pick 237 · Desmond Reid · RB · rank 247
They went early on Desmond Reid in pick 237, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.22 · Pick 238 · Micah Morris · OG · rank 323
Value said wait; Micah Morris in the 238th pick says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
