The Deven Eastern pick is the one that will follow the Packers into the fall. They took him 30 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Adding Tyler Guyton by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 8 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
Mike Washington Jr. slipping to pick 91 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Daylen Everette at the Round 3 slot is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A slide stopped in the 112th pick, with Bryce Lance worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value said wait; Mason Reiger in No. 120 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Julian Neal in Round 4, Pick 26 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Albert Regis in the 152nd overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Nadame Tucker in No. 153, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No drama and no debate, Beau Stephens went about where he belonged in pick No. 160. A need, and now a little less of one.
A straight-up fair deal on Justin Jefferson at the Round 6 slot, value and slot in agreement. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Eric McAlister in the 220th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They read the board right and Riley Nowakowski was the payoff at pick 236. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing TJ Hall in Round 7, Pick 30. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Alan Herron in slot 255 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
A big swing on Deven Eastern at the 256th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They did well to land Diego Pavia in slot 257, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
