The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Packers reached some 44 spots for Aaron Graves, and value like that does not grow back.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick-by-Pick
Caleb Tiernan at pick No. 52 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
They jumped the gun on Keylan Rutledge, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Davison Igbinosun in No. 114 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid sticker price for Julian Neal in slot 120, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached into another round for Demond Claiborne, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reach on Nate Boerkircher in pick 153; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Aaron Graves this early at the 160th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A big swing on Robert Spears-Jennings at Round 6, Pick 20, well ahead of any board in the building. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Bryce Foster at slot 236 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
