The tape said wait; the Packers did not. Kage Casey went at slot 123, a good 39 picks before the board was ready. A mixed bag that lands at C.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Spears-Jennings at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick-by-Pick
Nothing to complain about; Gennings Dunker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They let Jake Golday come to them and pounced at slot 76. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Daylen Everette in the 86th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
De'Zhaun Stribling in pick 99 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where Tacario Davis graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
DeMonte Capehart at No. 121 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kage Casey in the 123rd overall pick, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Beau Stephens. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nate Boerkircher in the 153rd pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Demond Claiborne in pick 160 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A conviction pick on Louis Moore at the Round 5 slot that the board grades a round light. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.

The board had Robert Spears-Jennings higher than pick No. 255, and the safety fell to them anyway. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
