Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Packers spent Round 6, Pick 30 on Bryce Foster, a name most had 51 spots down the list. The final tally is a middling C-.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hurst. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.

Good price on Gennings Dunker in the 55th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
R2.27
· Pick 59
· Chase Bisontis
· OG
· rank 53
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 59 with a little surplus value in Chase Bisontis. It fills a real need, too.
R3.20
· Pick 84
· Davison Igbinosun
· CB
· rank 80
Davison Igbinosun in slot 84 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.35
· Pick 99
· Ted Hurst
· WR
· rank 89
Ted Hurst slipping to the 99th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.6
· Pick 106
· DeMonte Capehart
· DT
· rank 138
They reached a country mile for DeMonte Capehart at Round 4, Pick 6, and the board is aghast. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.20
· Pick 120
· Tacario Davis
· CB
· rank 111
Tacario Davis slid further than he should have, and pick 120 is lovely value for the cornerback. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.21
· Pick 121
· Kage Casey
· OT
· rank 162
Kage Casey at pick No. 121 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.23
· Pick 123
· Max Llewellyn
· DE-EDGE
· rank 156
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Max Llewellyn. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.35
· Pick 135
· Demond Claiborne
· RB
· rank 165
They talked themselves into Demond Claiborne at the Round 4 slot, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.13
· Pick 153
· Cole Payton
· QB
· rank 202
A big swing on Cole Payton at the 153rd overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.20
· Pick 160
· Louis Moore
· S
· rank 169
They went early on Louis Moore in slot 160, and the value did not follow. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R5.33
· Pick 173
· Nate Boerkircher
· TE
· rank 164
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Nate Boerkircher in pick 173. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.34
· Pick 174
· Aaron Graves
· DT
· rank 210
Aaron Graves at No. 174 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.20
· Pick 201
· VJ Payne
· S
· rank 201
VJ Payne in Round 6, Pick 20 is fair value, right on his grade. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R6.30
· Pick 211
· Bryce Foster
· C
· rank 262
This one needs a full-page explanation: Bryce Foster in pick 211, miles early. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.39
· Pick 255
· Riley Mahlman
· OT
· rank 300
A wild overpay on Riley Mahlman in No. 255, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
