The war room fell hard for Riley Mahlman, and it showed at No. 236: 57 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
A conviction pick on LT Overton at the Round 2 slot that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A big swing on Keylan Rutledge at the 84th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Davison Igbinosun in pick No. 120 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy little value on Demond Claiborne in the 160th pick, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trey Zuhn III in slot 201, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
