Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles cashed the board's mistake on Rice: A-.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Eagles were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.

That Rice pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.1 · Pick 33 · JC Latham · OT · rank 18
JC Latham at No. 33 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · Kalen King · CB · rank 41
The board had Kalen King higher than the Round 2 slot, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.1 · Pick 65 · T'Vondre Sweat · DL · rank 60
Good price on T'Vondre Sweat in pick 65, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Jonathon Brooks · RB · rank 62
Jonathon Brooks at the 67th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 71
Steal is underselling it; Brenden Rice at Round 3, Pick 34 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.1 · Pick 137 · Justin Eboigbe · DL-EDGE · rank 124
Justin Eboigbe in slot 137 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.5 · Pick 141 · James Williams · S · rank 134
A reasonable price with a little left over, James Williams in slot 141. It fills a real need, too.
R5.22 · Pick 158 · McCallan Castles · TE · rank 152
They did well to land McCallan Castles in the 158th pick, just ahead of his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.27 · Pick 163 · Jaylin Simpson · CB · rank 151
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jaylin Simpson in the 163rd overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Jaylan Ford · LB · rank 177
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylan Ford at pick No. 172, value and slot in agreement. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R6.3 · Pick 178 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 166
Kitan Oladapo at No. 178 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Jase McClellan · RB · rank 217
Jase McClellan in Round 7, Pick 23 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
