The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named edge rusher, a need the Dolphins walked right past.
Every board in the league had Powers-Johnson lower, and that gap is the story. Landing Chambers that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 32 they get a blindside protector, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
They paid sticker price for T'Vondre Sweat in pick 53, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid a round early for Johnny Wilson in the 63rd pick, more than the board wanted. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid up for Cooper Beebe at the 70th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Khyree Jackson at No. 98 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
No drama and no debate, Joe Milton III went about where he belonged in pick No. 158. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A premium they did not need to pay, Christian Jones a notch or two before his time. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Steele Chambers at the Round 7 slot is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
