The one they had to fix is still broken. The Cowboys left cornerback untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
If Goncalves pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Keon Coleman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid up for Trey Benson at slot 56 when waiting would have done the job. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Matt Goncalves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A straight-up fair deal on Tommy Eichenberg at pick 124, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jaylan Ford in the 174th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, Jase McClellan at pick No. 212 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
