The Cowboys spent real capital to be 53 picks early on Jaylan Ford, and the board is going to hold them to it. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Neyor steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 29th pick they get a cornerstone up front, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A wild overpay on Cooper Beebe in the Round 2 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
McKinnley Jackson at the 87th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid a round early for Audric Estime in No. 89, more than the board wanted. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They went early on Khyree Jackson in pick 92, and the value did not follow. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached a country mile for Jaylan Ford at pick No. 124, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached into another round for JD Bertrand, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jontrey Hunter at slot 212 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Isaiah Neyor at pick 245 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
