Nobody else had Carson Steele anywhere near the 212th overall pick. The Cowboys did, by 47 spots, and that gap is the whole story. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
On value alone, Coleman makes the weekend a net positive. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They barely believed it either: Keon Coleman still on the board at No. 56. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taking Payton Wilson in the 87th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached a country mile for Braelon Allen at pick No. 124, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylan Ford. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
