They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Carson Steele, 47 picks early at the Round 6 slot. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a long-term starter on the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
A reach for Trey Benson in slot 56; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
A real head-scratcher, Khyree Jackson in the 87th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Tommy Eichenberg in the 124th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A wild overpay on De'Corian Clark in Round 5, Pick 38, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A big swing on Carson Steele at pick 212, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jordan Whittington. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
