The Eagles lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Hard to defend, and the D+ reflects that.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Schrader steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 18 they get an island corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the 19th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at slot 62 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A minor need, but a need all the same.
By-the-book stuff, Adisa Isaac at pick 63 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tykee Smith in Round 3, Pick 34 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
James Williams in pick No. 134 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Luke McCaffrey at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They let Austin Booker come to them and pounced at the 167th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Cody Schrader in No. 178. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
BJ Mayes at the 243rd overall pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
