Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jordan Whittington at the 245th overall pick is 26 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. That Clark pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get protection for the quarterback. Exactly the need they had to hit.
The board had cheaper options than Trey Benson at the Round 2 slot, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They took Marist Liufau at par in pick 87, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid up for Cam Hart at the 124th pick when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylan Ford. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and De'Corian Clark at No. 212 is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
