For all the boxes ticked, the Cowboys skipped the loudest one: quarterback is exactly as bare as it was.
Landing Clark that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The Estime pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a potential shutdown corner, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Patrick Paul at pick 56. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They jumped the gun on Audric Estime, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A straight-up fair deal on Tommy Eichenberg at the 124th pick, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Jaylan Ford went about where he belonged in pick No. 174. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value with a capital V on De'Corian Clark in the Round 6 slot, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
