The Cowboys checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

2024 NFL Draft
· 7 picks
· 2 steals
· 2 reaches
The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cowboys reached some 26 spots for Jordan Whittington, and value like that does not grow back. No fireworks, but a solid B.
That Allen pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Patrick Paul at No. 56 is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They talked themselves into Khyree Jackson at the 87th overall pick, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tommy Eichenberg at pick No. 124 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Braelon Allen here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jawhar Jordan in pick 212 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jordan Whittington at pick 245 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
