If confidence were a draft strategy, the Cowboys would have aced it. Jaylan Ford at pick 126 is 51 spots clear of where he belonged.
On value alone, Jackson makes the weekend a net positive. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
They left a pile of value on the table to take Graham Barton this early at pick No. 24. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Patrick Paul at the 56th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 91 with a little surplus value in McKinnley Jackson. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Khyree Jackson in the 125th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached into another round for Jaylan Ford, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A real head-scratcher, De'Corian Clark in Round 5, Pick 37 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Myles Jones went about where he belonged in pick 213. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Mark Perry in pick No. 242 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
