The real work happened on the phones. The Packers fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Getting Proctor where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
The Packers clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Kamari Lassiter in No. 25; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Cooper Beebe in the 70th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Johnny Dixon. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Braelon Allen is a better player than pick 168 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Josh Proctor in Round 6, Pick 28. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A straight-up fair deal on Isaiah Neyor at pick No. 216, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
