The Cowboys treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending pick No. 213 on Carson Steele a full 58 spots early.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. That McClellan pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 3, Pick 1 with a little surplus value in T'Vondre Sweat. It fills a real need, too.
A big swing on Matt Goncalves at slot 87, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Khyree Jackson in pick 102 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
