The Cowboys clearly saw something nobody else did in DeMonte Capehart, taking him 75 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Suamataia at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get a potential shutdown corner at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Keon Coleman at the Round 2 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kingsley Suamataia at Round 3, Pick 24 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Ray Davis at pick 125 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jaylan Ford in pick No. 173 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take DeMonte Capehart this early at the 213th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
