Somebody in pick No. 63 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chiefs sat still while Xavier Legette, the No. 36 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 31st overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Xavier Legette at the 63rd pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Braden Fiske slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Javon Foster in pick No. 131. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Value with a capital V on Jaylin Simpson in No. 161, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Nice patience on Braelon Allen, who had no business lasting to pick 171. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nathan Thomas in Round 5, Pick 39 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good price on Jared Wiley in slot 209, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
